There seems to be a trend in terrorism threat reporting. First, an incident occurs; then people say, "Why didn't you warn us?" Then we get more news coverage of warnings, plus the official alert level - and no one knows what to do. People think that local, state, and federal authorities do all of the work necessary to prepare for terrorist attacks or other disasters, but that is not true. Here are some things that regular people can do:

1) Be alert; know what is happening around you.
2) Keep up with current events; know what the current alert level is.
3) Be armed at all times. Implicit in this is getting training and maintaining proficiency with whatever arms you choose to bear.
4) Prepare emergency supplies -- a disaster kit, first aid kits, food and water, etc.
5) Support your country's efforts to fight back, even if it inconveniences you (for example, when war news negatively affects the economy). Show a united front against the enemy. Fly the flag, and mean it.
6) NEVER accept excuses for terrorism.
